George Benson is one of the most prolific and beloved musicians of his era. He has received ten Grammy Awards and a National Endowment for the Arts Jazz Master award. He will talk about Benson: The Autobiography. (Da Capo Press) Topics include what led him to write his autobiography and what challenges him musically.  Benson actually started out professionally as a singer, performing in nightclubs at eight, recording four sides for RCA’s X label in 1954, forming a rock band at 17 while using a guitar that his stepfather made for him. 10/19/2014 First Hour
